Terms of Use
Effective date: 18 June 2026 · Last updated: 18 June 2026
In short
Dive Together is a community directory and map for freedivers. It's free to browse, and you can sign in with Google to create a profile.
- We're a directory, not a dive school, a training agency, or a booking service. We don't verify schools or the certifications members list about themselves.
- Freediving and spearfishing are dangerous. Nothing here is training, medical, or safety advice. Train with qualified instructors and never dive alone.
- Your profile is yours. You can edit, hide, or delete it at any time.
- Be honest and be kind. Don't impersonate people, scrape the directory, or post things you don't have the right to post.
This summary is here to help — the full terms below are what govern your use of the site.
1. Who we are, and accepting these terms
Dive Together ("Dive Together", "we", "us", "our") is operated by Office for Visual Affairs, a company registered at 19 Morris Ave, New York, United States.
By using the site — whether you browse it, create a profile, or claim a listing — you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
2. Eligibility and your account
You may browse Dive Together without an account. To create a profile, you sign in with Google, which creates an account for you.
- You must be at least 16 years old to hold an account.
- One profile per person. Keep your profile information accurate and up to date.
- You're responsible for activity under your account and for keeping access to your Google sign-in secure.
- You can deactivate your profile (hiding it from public view) or delete your account entirely at any time from your account settings.
3. What Dive Together is — and isn't
Dive Together is an informational community directory and map. It helps freedivers find one another and find schools.
We are not:
- a certification or training agency;
- a dive school, instructor, or training provider;
- a booking, payment, or reservation platform; or
- an agent, employer, or broker for any person or school listed.
A listing or profile on Dive Together is not an endorsement, recommendation, or guarantee by us of any person, school, or their services. Any arrangement you make with a school or another member is between you and them.
4. Your content and the licence you give us
You keep ownership of everything you add to your profile — your name, bio, photo, links, skills, and the certifications you choose to list ("your content").
By adding content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, and display that content for the purpose of operating and promoting the directory and map. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except where we're required to keep it temporarily for legal reasons or it has been cached or copied by others outside our control.
You promise that:
- you have the right to share everything you upload, including the right to use any photo you post (for example, that you took it or have the photographer's permission); and
- your content is accurate and not misleading — in particular, any certifications you list are genuinely yours.
5. Acceptable use
When using Dive Together, you agree not to:
- impersonate another person, school, or organisation, or misrepresent your affiliation;
- list false, expired, or exaggerated certifications, or other misleading information;
- harass, threaten, or abuse other members, or post unlawful, hateful, or infringing content;
- scrape, crawl, harvest, or bulk-collect profiles, listings, or other data from the site, or use it to build a competing dataset;
- attempt to access accounts, data, or systems you're not authorised to access, or probe, disrupt, or interfere with the site's security or operation; or
- use the site for any unlawful purpose or in breach of these terms.
We may remove content or restrict access that we reasonably believe breaches these rules.
6. School listings and directory accuracy
Many school listings were imported from public sources and have not been verified by the schools themselves. Where a listing hasn't been claimed by its owner, we show a note to that effect — "imported listing — not yet verified by the school."
- A school's owner or representative can claim their listing; claims are reviewed by us before the listing is marked as claimed.
- Imported information may be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate. We don't warrant the accuracy of any listing.
- We don't endorse, vet, or guarantee any school, instructor, or their safety record, qualifications, or services.
Always confirm details — including a school's credentials and safety practices — directly with the school before relying on them.
7. Self-reported certifications
Certifications shown on member profiles are self-reported and displayed as provided by the member. We do not verify them with any certifying agency. Do not treat a listed certification as proof of a person's training, competence, or fitness to dive or to supervise others.
8. Safety and assumption of risk
Freediving, spearfishing, and related activities are inherently dangerous and can result in serious injury or death.
- Nothing on Dive Together is training, medical, coaching, or safety advice, and nothing here is a substitute for proper, in-person instruction from a qualified professional.
- Never freedive alone. Always dive with a trained buddy and follow recognised safety practices.
- You are solely responsible for your own decisions, training, health, and safety, and for assessing anyone you choose to dive or train with.
- To the fullest extent permitted by law, you use the site and act on anything you find through it at your own risk, and you assume all risks associated with freediving and any contact, meeting, or arrangement that results from using the site.
9. Third-party links and services
Dive Together links to third-party content and relies on third-party services — for example map tiles, fonts, social-media links, and school websites. We don't control these and aren't responsible for their content, availability, practices, or policies. Following an external link is at your own risk and subject to that third party's terms.
10. Our intellectual property
The Dive Together name, logo, design, and the compiled directory and map (excluding your content and third-party content) belong to us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or reuse them except as permitted by these terms or by law.
11. Disclaimers
The site is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any information on it is accurate or complete.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that can't be excluded or limited under applicable law.
12. Limitation of liability and indemnity
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or for any injury or harm arising from freediving or from your dealings with any person or school found through the site. Our total liability arising out of or relating to the site is limited to the amount you paid us to use it, which for most users is nothing.
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your content, your use of the site, or your breach of these terms.
13. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the site at any time, and you can delete your account from your settings (see our Privacy Policy for what deletion removes). We may suspend or terminate access — and remove content — if you breach these terms or if we reasonably need to in order to protect the site or other members. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as content licences already granted, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnities) will survive.
14. Changes to the site and to these terms
We may change, suspend, or discontinue parts of the site, and we may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the "last updated" date above and, where appropriate, give notice on the site. Continuing to use Dive Together after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
15. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts located in New York, United States will have jurisdiction over any dispute, except where mandatory law (for example consumer-protection law in your country of residence) gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
